BD+M work closely with their
clients in order to develop a clear understanding of the
functional requirements of the project. The brief is
then carefully appraised and evaluated, and the
difficult task of solving the problems commences.
What emerges is a shared
understanding of the work that lies ahead and agreement
on the results to be achieved. The resources and
procedures which BD+M employ to ensure the quality of
design and construction and the control over the
critical elements of cost and time are considered
paramount. Naturally, responsibility for every project
remains with a Director but both fundamental design
decisions and computer technologies remain with him to
ensure consistency and maintain the highest possible
standards.
BD+M consider that their
particular approach, with its specific response and
planning based culture (not crisis resolution) is the
key to a successful, deliverable project.

BD+M have a highly developed work
method for all projects. Services, plant, maintenance
and energy use are all considered together with cost
implications in an industry where greater and greater
importance is being placed on environmentally
responsible design and construction.
Project databases,
value-engineered buildings and whole building
commissioning techniques are other significant areas
which the company continue to monitor and evaluate. Both
Directors of the company have extensive experience in
the ‘Design & Build’ method of building
procurement.
